WE WON AT MADAMBAKKAM!!

THEIR GOONDAS BEAT US MERCILESSLY. YET TODAY WE SAVED THE MADAMBAKKAM LAKE FROM BECOMING A CESSPOOL

They were planning to build a 30 Million Litres a Day Sewage Treatment Plant on the banks of the Madambakkam Lake.
We objected to it. At a meeting held by the Officers of the Tamilnadu Pollution Control Board on 09 Apr 2009 two councillors descended on us with three SUMOs full of Goodas dressed in black trousers and white shirts. They mercilessly beat Rear Admiral KR Vasan, Brig Mohan Thomas and me. That was the time we launched our struggle. Over the year we mobilised the people of Madanbakkam. I also filed a Public Interest Petition.
Today the High Court of Judicature in Madras ruled in our favour against an STP in the vicinity of the Madambakkam Lake.
Regarding beating us, the councillors and their cohorts are on bail.

    A victory for the common man, the environment, decency and justice in the larger sense.

    In this age of declining social consciousness, it is heartening to read of such endeavors and more so to see them succeeding.

    When I went last month to this place, people around this area were telling me that Govt is going ahead on implementing the sewage treatment plant, is this true? I am worried.
